Tap Repairs
A dripping spout, a spindle seized solid with salt or a mixer gone stiff at the handle: we strip tapware down, reseat or replace, and rebuild it the same visit. See tap repairs.
Bribie Island Plumber covers the plumbing an island house leans on: taps, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, hidden leaks and gas fitting, across Bongaree, Bellara, Banksia Beach, Woorim and White Patch in the island's urban south. The Bribie Island home page carries the full picture of who we are and what else we do.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill

Most calls sort into one of six pages, and the symptom usually names it:
Anything flooding the house, smelling of gas or leaving a household without hot water skips the queue and goes straight to the emergency plumbing page.

The stock on this sand island falls into three rough eras, and the era usually tells us what sits behind the wall.
The oldest places go back to the holiday years, when summer cottages crowded the Bongaree foreshore and a boat was the way over. The 1963 bridge changed that, and many of those small homes survive today around Goodwin Drive and the Bribie Island Shopping Centre.
Growth took off in the 1980s and brick veneer spread across Bellara and Bongaree, with the big hotel on Sylvan Beach Esplanade marking the Passage side of the suburb. The high school opened on First Avenue in 1989, before which island teenagers travelled to Caboolture for class.
Canal estates now fill Banksia Beach, laid over an old creek channel, and the suburb's school opened in 1992 as the streets filled. The first hot water units and tapware out there are now reaching the age where replacements start.
Each job below follows its own method, and the short version of each is this:

A dripping spout, a spindle seized solid with salt or a mixer gone stiff at the handle: we strip tapware down, reseat or replace, and rebuild it the same visit. See tap repairs.

Cisterns that will not stop running, buttons that will not press and pans rocking on the base, and most clear up with parts carried on the van. See toilet repairs.

Showers gone weak, floor wastes sharing one smell and vanities leaking into the cupboard: this page covers every island wet-area repair short of a full renovation job. See bathroom plumbing.

Sink wastes running slow, dishwasher connections weeping under the bench and mixers dripping over the sink: the kitchen page sorts the small jobs from the ones needing parts ordered in. See kitchen plumbing.

A meter ticking up while every tap is dry points to a leak under a floor or inside a wall; this page shows how we find it. See leak detection.

Bayonet points for the winter heater, new appliance connections, repairs to existing runs and a full pressure test on the line: all of it sits under our gasfitting licence. See gas fitting.
$0 call-out fees, available 24/7, and same-day where we can.

Every plumbing decision lands somewhere on the same line, and knowing where you stand saves money and second visits.
covers the small jobs that stop big ones. Washers before drips become floods, valve checks before winter, aerators cleaned before pressure complaints. A booked service visit costs less than any emergency call.
is for a failed part sitting in a sound system. A corroded isolation valve, a cracked cistern outlet, a failed gas regulator. On an island where salt ages exposed fittings fast, repair is often the right call, because the rest of the system is usually in good order.
arrives when the failure is structural. A cylinder past its second repair, a buried water service corroded along its length, a cistern with no parts made for it. Houses from the 1980s wave are deep into another round of major fittings, and the canal estates are reaching their first.
We tell you where your job falls on that line before any work starts, and the figure you approve covers the job as described.

The ground under the southern streets shapes how repairs run here more than in most mainland suburbs.
Fresh groundwater sits in the sand close beneath the southern streets, so a trench opened for a water service or a sewer junction can start filling before we reach the pipe. We plan each dig around a wet hole rather than being surprised by one.
House drains from before the PVC era are earthenware laid in short socketed lengths, and every joint is a weak point once the sandy ground shifts. Where a joint cracks, sediment drops out at the first low spot and the blockage builds right there.
Outside the newer canal estates, the public sewers carrying the island's gravity flows are mostly asbestos-cement, a brittle material that tends to split across its joints, and once sand has washed through for years the ground above can lose its support.
Sewage here is lifted rather than gravity-fed, rising through a chain of pump stations to the Unitywater plant at Woorim, so a power cut in a storm or a pump quitting can send overflow up through a yard gully.

Three other kinds of work sit alongside this one, and each takes a family of jobs off general plumbing's hands:

Two jobs that sound alike can price very differently, and the difference is usually one of three things.
a mixer on an open bench is a short job, while a buried water service under a driveway means cutting, digging and making good.
standard cistern internals come on the van, but discontinued tapware or an imported gas component has to be ordered in.
a visible drip is a known quantity, while a leak inside a wall is priced once we can see the length of pipe involved.
The quote follows what the job turns out to need, and you approve the price before we pick up a tool.

Locally owned and operated, licensed and insured, with flat-rate pricing on every job.
Unitywater looks after the street mains, while every pipe running from the connection towards your house is yours, so we first work out where a fault sits relative to that boundary before quoting.
Salt air off both shores attacks brass tapware, isolation valves and fittings near the meter on exposed walls, which is why we fit replacements rated for coastal conditions instead of repeating the same failure.
The sand under the southern streets holds shallow fresh groundwater, so a trench for pipework often meets water early, and we allow for a wet hole when quoting the job.
City of Moreton Bay maps storm tide in its flood viewer, and those layers tell us where overflow gullies and new drainage fittings belong on low blocks near the Passage and the canals.
Our gasfitting covers pipe runs, bayonet points, appliance connections and repairs under QBCC No: 15024607, with the supply isolated and the whole line tested before we call the job finished.
